Some DIY mixing tips ofr amateurs:
Let's clear up some easy things in DIy mixing, especially for amateur vapers who want to get involved:
1) First of all we produce the base where the flavour is going to be added. It is better if we have this base ready than to mix the same time PG, VG, WFI and flavour. The time needed for homogenization of the content is very long that way.
2)When we produce our base and its nicotine level we have to consider that flavour percentage will dilute further nicotine and the nicotine's concentration will be decreased. So, if our target liquid is 18mg/ml for nicotine and our flavour needs 5% dilution, we have to make the base in 18mg/ml+5% = 18.9mg/ml so after adding the flavour eliquid will be in 18mg/ml. It is much more easier to handle base nicotine level than of the ready-to-vape eliquid (you have to add flavour's percentage together with bases' correction volume).
3) Eliquid is similar to hot chocolate preparation. First we aa the compound we want to dilute and after the solvent (spoons of chocolate and afterwards the hot water). Same way, we add the amount of flavour (in our empty bottle), afterwards the stronger nicotine base and finally the weaker nicotine base. This row because: a) Flavour gets diluted better when we add slowly the solvent (base), b) we add the stronger nicotine base to ensure that measured volume will be added and c) We add weaker base afterwards to have the option of correction if more or less stronger base dropped by mishandling.
4) Eliquids are not milkshake. Handle gently. Round smooth mixing, better by using a glass stirring rod. Rod is the perfect tool for this action. No bubbles, velvet touch of liquid, easy to use. Do not shake upside down the mix. Air will be in the eliquid and these bubbles prevent good homogenization. Imagine that even if you let the eliquid calm in a dark drawer, aromatic molecules still move in the base. In molecule level, all compounds move continuously. So, even if you do not mix well, leave your eliquid for 2 days somewhere. If you are not tired, leave it for 5-7 days and you will taste a delicious juice.
5) If your amateur in DIY avoid testing very precise percentages of PG-VG. Get a general check if PG suits you and afterwards try 2-3 different maximum percentages. You will see soon that after you find your optimum content, flavours will be your main concern.
6) When you mix 2 or more flavours, do not add the dilution percentages of each. Example: If you want to get MOJITO with VODKA, LIME, MINT do not try to mix 5%+5%+4%=14% total of flavours in your eliquid. You will get a stuffy eliquid where only the strongest flavour will be visible. For MOJITO you will need 6% total of a mix produced by 6 parts of VODKA, 3 parts of LIME and 1 part of MINT. Relative ratio in multiple flavour mixing results after many testings and experience.

I mention shaking as a bad habit when you mix your eliquid and demand to test it just afterwards. Bubbles created will result spots of flavour here and there so when you vape it in mins you will get flavour unstable feeling like AC power. Up and down.
When someone does his work do not bother him at all. Steeping takes place smoothly by itself. You can gently shake roundly the bottle. I feel that you will interrupt eliquid's calm steeping if you get in your hand and dance rock n'roll
I use an example to explain what mixing is:
Let's say PG, VG, water, nicotine are 4 persons who sit on the same table. When you first put them all in the same table, they see each other and as long as they are together, they get to to know more and more.
It is just the same with eliquid ingredients.
After mixing, the molecules have kinetic energy to move inside the "juice", so they get some hydrogen bonds between them. When you add water to glycerin, for first seconds you get a semitransparent solution and after a while, transparency gets back. Hydroxyl group is responsible for this getting many hydrogen bonds to the oxygen of water.
I used a simple example just to be understood for all people.
For DIY now I believe (as vaper myself) that preparation of base is very good.
If you have already mixed this base according to your personal criteria (% of PG/VG), mixing of flavour is much easier and fast. To use the previous example is like to have 4 persons who are friends and get to know a 5th person come afterwards. It is much easier.

ensimmäisissä kokkailuissani lisäsin kaikki samalla ja ravistelin pulloja joka päivä : D
nykyään teen valmiin ison pullon pg/vg/niksa tarvii sitten vaan maut lisätä, kyllä ravistan lopuksi ihan huolella mutta sen jälkeen jätän ihan rauhaan : )

jos litkujen antaa kypsyä viikon niin se on ihan paskan hailea vaikka alkusekoituksen tekisi sähkövatkaimella

Kuulostaa siltä. Eivätköhän ne kaikki harrastukset vähän siihen suuntaan mene jossain vaiheessa.
Esim. viskiharrastus...kaverilla saattaa olla kymmeniä pulloja auki kaapissa. Jokaisesta on maistettu, mutta vain vähän koska se kuuluu tämän harrastuksen luonteeseen. Kun kysyt kyseiseltä kaverilta jostain viskistä hän ei osaa oikein vastata. Sitten on kaveri jolla on vain muutama pullo kaapissa. Hän on kuitenkin nauttinut eri viskejä kolminumeroisen luvun ja joitakin niistä useampia pulloja. Kun kysyt häneltä jostain viskistä osaako hän vastata paremmin laajemman kokemuksen perusteella? Mene ja tiedä, mutta selvää on että kumpi näistä on se hifistelijä
