Ahah !
finally got time to suss out the zmax/ECD issue..
my capacitor is not big enough for the low frequency, short duty stuff.
I could tack a capacitor on the meters and it would work .. but its messy .. instead, I am going to order some bigger caps and get them here ASAP and do it properly.

Is that ok with you guys or would you rather have a non zmax approved meter faster ?
I have the rest of the parts and have 32 meters half assembled, just missing displays and connectors. While waiting for caps I will do kore work on the code anyway, zi have found a bug where a mod changes from pwm to linear mode makes it impossible to change modes, I might change the mode switch timing a bit too.
Any suggestions from you guys ? you seem pretty switched on.

There is no way to just do it in code, the micro does not even get to boot up as is.
In short .. if your meter works with a vmax, then its had the input cap removed, clock frequency increased .. to make it work with a zmax .. need to add 33uF or more to the 3.3v rail. I just did a bunch of zmax tests with a capacitor added on the header pins.

Jos ajattelee tuota näyttön rajoittuneisuutta niin tässä uusin versio näytön teksteistä:

bat - bat
cur - anp (amp)
res - ohn (ohm)
por - uat (wat)
rns - rns
dut - dut
fre - fre

Alkuperäinen näyttötapa on selkeämpi ja parempi. Kaikki ilmoitetaan johdonmukaisesti mitattavan asian nimenä. Ei käytettävyyttä paranna se, että osa asioista otsikoitaisiin mittayksikön lyhenteellä. IMHO .

Ymmärrän molempien kannan, sähkögurulle se on ehdoton, eli pyhät termit jotka on kansainvälisesti käytössä.
Arvostelijalle mahdollisimman käyttäjäystävälliset/helposti ymmärrettävät termit.

Mikäli mahdollista tilata osa mittareista erikoisspekseillä, niin mäkin voisin ottaa noilla SiB77 "suomennoksilla", kun en kuitenkaan enää muista että su CUR oli ampeerit ja POR watit.. :-[

Laitteen valmistaja päättäköön haluaako hän tuottaa kustomoidun version. Minusta yleismaailmallinen versio on hyvä, eikä ehdotettu muutos edusta "suomalaista käytäntöä", vaan pikemminkin "seinäjokelaista", mikä valmistajan on hyvä tiedostaa.

Harmi kun tuli viivyteltyä nimen lisäämisen kanssa ja jäi välistä. Olis voinu jotain käyttöliittyymää, graafeja ja logeja -ohjelmaa väsäillä. Sarjaportista kuitenki aika helppo olis ollu lukee datat. Noh ehkä viel joku päivä

Itseasiassa volt on V, The Amper is a river located in southern Bavaria, ampere on A ja power on P. :P

Johdonmukaisuudella ajattelin sellaista, että kun ilmoitetaan suure, niin kaikissa tapauksissa ilmoitetaan suure eikä osassa tapauksia mittayksikkö. Siis bat on suure, battery voltage, ja sen yksikkö on voltti. Jos cur ilmoitettaisiin anp, niin vastaavasti bat olisi ilmoitettava uol tai jotain sinne päin . Mutta jännitteen tehollisarvo (RMS, rns) on myös voltteja. Miten sen sitten erottaisi bat suureesta? Ja dut olisi prosentteja ja fre hertzejä tai kilohertsejä... Voi pyhät termit sentään, tässähän menisi aivan sekaisin :P :P

SiB77:n lamput saa varmaan korjattua esmoken kaiverruspalvelussa, uat lienee aika nopea kaivertaa.. :P :P

Koska: a) uudessa mittarissa varmaankin on uudempi ohjelma joka toimii paremmin, ja b) ensimmäinen mittari osittain poksahti rikki, ja toimii enää sarjaliikenteen kautta, kunnes saan uuden näytönohjaimen ja regulaattorin...

BTW, there has been a delay on the current batch due to a part change to ensure the meter works well with low frequency, dual battery mods like the zmax. hopefully the parts arrive this week.
I might add a Vaverage display to the PWM data while I am waiting..
I can see that being useful.

parts arrived .. swapped the cap on 30 units.

now modding code.
have changed the averaging code so it keeps all the samples, removed the rolling average algorithm to a more solid additive averaging of all the samples. improves accuracy a little .. perhaps a few points of a %.

added Vaverage readout to pwm mods.
changed the speed of the mode changing, now you can change mode pretty much instantly so you can roll through the menus quicker. mode change lock time reduced to 1 second, down from 2 seconds.

halved the time the text is displayed for each operation.

dropped the internal detection value for pwm switching detection.

removed the ego detection based on frequency and the estimated battery capacity.

dropped the minimum frequency for pwm detection.

still goin ..

well, when i fill the micro up i guess I will stop ..
i will have some for sale next week though, i have to go through PMs from a few forums and contact a bunch of peeps.


ok, got rid of the annoying delay before some of the readings ..
changed the mode lock times to 1.5 seconds, i think its great now.

did some more comparison work against my scope... it is more accurate than the scope for sure.
eg duty cycles on the scope changes by a few percent depending on which time base selection is used.

just did some vmax tests .. no zmax here unfortunately..

peak 7.59v
rms 4.63v
ave 2.84v

maths works out nicely. scope agrees ..

Q : Would a capacitor between ground and the pad next to it sort out the low duty mod issue?
I remember you tried something with a capacitor but can't remember if was this.
A : yes .. 47uF cap between those 2 pads .. or if you can get a surface mount cap .. the via underneath the 'r' in ECDmeter text .. is 3.3v and the pad next to the 'r' is ground. or you can send it back for updates..
